What your competitor changed, when they changed it, and where to check.

Competitive intelligence for B2B SaaS, built entirely from the public record. Every claim in a brief carries a dated source. Nothing rests on my say-so.

How the work is done

Software vendors change their pricing, packaging and positioning constantly, and most of it is never announced. Release notes skip it. Documentation lags months behind. The change sits in plain view on the vendor's own website, and almost nobody is watching it closely enough to notice.

I reconstruct those changes from archived captures of public pages, date each one, and verify every finding against the live page on the morning a brief is sent. If a finding cannot survive that check, it does not ship.

Five AI-writing platforms

nine months of archived pricing pages

  • UNCHANGED

One vendor held its headline price at $59 across the entire period — while rewriting which features that price unlocked. Three separate times. None of it announced anywhere.

  • CHANGED

Another moved its entry price twice and changed its tier count twice. Its own published documentation still described a structure that had been replaced six months earlier.

  • DIVERGED

Across five vendors, five different billing metrics. Exactly one still charged purely per seat — a fact none of the five appear to have noticed about each other.

Vendor names are withheld here. In a client brief they are named, with the capture date and URL behind every individual claim.

Assignments

Pricing Shift Signal
What a named competitor changed about price, packaging or feature gating over a defined window — and the exact date each change appeared.
Public Exposure Audit
Where a competitor's current public claims contradict their earlier ones, or contradict their own documentation.
Sales Pitch Intelligence
How a competitor actually pitches, reconstructed from what they publish: proof points, objection handling, and the comparisons they choose to pick.
Win-Back Signal
Public evidence that accounts are in motion — support forums, review timing, job postings, migration guides written by the people leaving.

Assignments are fixed-fee and agreed before any work begins.

Who does the work

Qaiser Mehmood. I hold a PhD and completed a post-doctorate in Switzerland. My research is published in the Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology — first author on both:

That is organisational psychology, not competitive intelligence, and I will not pretend otherwise. But consider what the 2026 paper found: giving people autonomy improves their performance and quietly costs them the ability to switch off. A benefit carrying a price nobody had been measuring.

That is the same shape as most of what I find on a competitor’s pricing page. The discipline behind it transfers even where the subject matter does not — state a finding only as strongly as the evidence supports, and design the check that would prove you wrong before publishing rather than after.
